Consuelo Ochoa

Consuelo Ochoa, 86, of Palmview, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024.

Consuelo was born to Salomon and Aurelia Pena in 1937.
As the oldest sibling, she served as example, support and guidance to her 7 siblings. She willingly supported her extended family by moving to Diaz Ordaz as teenager to help her elderly aunt and lived there until she married Guillermo Ochoa in 1956. They pursued more opportunities in the US and moved to Penitas, Texas. They were grateful for the love and support family offered when they arrived and lived a very humble beginning. They were blessed with 9 children and were married for 64 years until she was widowed in 2020. She was a stay at home wife, mother, cook, seamstress, confidant and enforcer who encouraged her husband tirelessly to start his own business. She was very proud when she built her dream home in Mission, Texas. She motivated each of her children to educate themselves, sustain their families and more importantly guide her grandchildren to success. She was blessed to have lived a long life with her children, grandchildren and even got a chance to meet her great and great great grandchildren.

Consuelo was predeceased by her husband Guillermo Ochoa; two sons, Oscar and Fernando Ochoa and her daughter Blanca Ochoa.

She is survived by her children, Guillermo Ochoa, Maribel Huerta, Marilu Perez, Maria Gloria Ochoa, Angel Ochoa, Melissa Ochoa-Perez and her many grandchildren and great/great grandchildren.

Consuelo was a devout Catholic who had a great deal of faith in the Virgin Mary. Although she will be missed, the family is grateful for the time we have shared with her and know that she is now in the presence of the Lord.

The family invites you to celebrate her life and remember her good days.

The visitation will be Friday, February 16, 2024 from 4:00pm - 9:00pm, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00pm, at McAllen Funeral Home, 512 S 12th St, McAllen, TX 78501.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1104 S Main St, Penitas, TX 78576, with the burial to follow at Penitas Cemetery.

All services are handled by Grace Funeral Home, and are being hosted at the McAllen Funeral Home Chapel, 512 S 12th St, McAllen, TX 78501.
